Impact Awards

On February 6, 1996 at the celebration of the Grand Opening of the Women’s Resource Center, sixteen women were honored with the Outstanding Rice Woman Award.  The award celebrated the efforts of women on our campus.  In 1998, the student coordinators realized that they truly needed to recognize all members of our community that are sensitive to women's issues and thus changed the name to the Women's Resource Center Impact Awards.  The criteria for the award remained the same with the name change and continues to this day as we annually honor the recipients of the Impact Award during the Spring Semester.

The Impact Awards celebrate individuals in the Rice community who:

  • Demonstrates service to the campus and the community
  • Demonstrates involvement and participation in student life and student activities at Rice University and/or beyond
  • Works to make a positive impact by raising awareness of women's issues affecting her/his community
  • Serves as a role model in the empowerment of women

The Women’s Resource Center recognizes recipients in the following categories:

  • Undergraduate Students (up to 4)
  • Graduate Students (up to 2)
  • Faculty (up to 2)
  • Staff (up to 2)
